Getting to Sierra Madre

Featured Story
Find your path from the airport to Sierra Madre, California.
Several Options Make Getting to Sierra Madre Easy

Sierra Madre travel has long been a favorite activity of those seeking a beautiful place to relax. This city started out as primarily a resort community, but has since become an integral part of Los Angeles County. This makes transportation a very easy affair, though one that does have some degree of complexity. There are plenty of places at which you can fly in and out of the area and there are plenty of public transit options available. The Interstate highways provide ready access to the regional attractions and to the city of Los Angeles itself.

You’ll have no problems finding an airport near Sierra Madre, CA. Some of the closest facilities include the Bob Hope Airport, located in Burbank; the El Monte Airport and the largest in the region, LAX. The Los Angeles International airport is a huge facility that can be a challenge to navigate, but it also provides access to all the major modes of transportation in the area. The rail system can provide access from this facility all the way to Pasadena, where the Sierra Madre Metro Rail Station is located. This is a great way to get around town, and features cheap fares and a broad reach.

Sierra Madre travel within the city is easily accomplished via the bus line. The city has its own system which covers the downtown and much of the rest of the city. There are also shuttle services that can take you to and from the Sierra Madre station, making getting to the city via train a very easy affair. If you have special needs or are elderly, the city operates a Dial-A-Ride service that takes those in need of a lift to and from destinations of their choosing, including ones in other nearby cities.

Sierra Madre rental cars can be hired in the city or in the nearby communities. This is one of the best ways to get around California. Even when the traffic is heavy, it’s an experience to just be out on the massive freeways that keep this populous county mobile. If you rent a car, be sure to get it insured beyond the minimum amount. California is a very car-heavy state and traffic can be very thick at times. To keep yourself sane, try to avoid the freeways during the rush hours and learn a few back road routes to your favorite destinations.
